ABOUT THE ARTIST

In the expansive prairies, ancient oak savannas, and tranquil wetlands of south-central Wisconsin I find a rich, evocative canvas for exploring themes of grief, loss, resilience, and hope. My photography is deeply intertwined with my practice of walking—each step a meditative journey through these landscapes, allowing me to connect intimately with the land and its stories.

Walking through these landscapes is not just a method of exploration but an integral part of my artistic practice. Each step through the prairies, oak savannas, and wetlands allows me to engage deeply with the land and its quiet narratives of transformation and healing.

In addition to my photographic practice, I engage in a unique form of “mark making” by applying gold leaf by hand to each image. It creates a visual metaphor for the enduring strength that arises from our most profound challenges.

In my work, I invite viewers to traverse these landscapes with me, to reflect on their own experiences of grief, loss, resilience, and hope. By presenting the intimate and profound connections between these natural settings and the emotional landscapes they evoke, I hope to offer a visual exploration that resonates with the enduring strength and quiet hope inherent in the journey of life.
