ABOUT THE ARTIST

My interest in textiles began in middle school when I learned to sew. I studied art and art history in college and took up batik as my medium in the years after graduation. I continued to paint and draw through the years. I added graphic design, and then added photography to my repertoire when computers became ubiquitous. Now, I design textiles based on my drawings, paintings, doodles, and photos.

CREATIVE PROCESS

My current work combines my love of sewing and textiles and design. I create and then transfer the design into my computer to digitize it and send it to the fabric printer. I make scarves, tote bags, coasters, napkins, place mats and many more items from the fabrics I design. I like the concept of "usefulness", so I think of my process as making art a part of our everyday lives by turning it into fabric and sewing home decor.
