ABOUT THE ARTIST

Helen Klebesadel (MFA) is best known for her large-scale watercolors addressing environmental and feminist themes. Most recently her paintings are focused on vital native plants and the pollinators and other creatures that depend upon them. Her art can be found in many public and private art collections. Her contributions to the larger arts community included serving as a member of the Wisconsin Arts Board and as the national president of the Women’s Caucus for Art, the nation’s oldest organization of women artists and art historians. Born and raised in Wisconsin, she was a university educator for 30+ years.

Helen maintains an art studio in Madison, Wisconsin where she continues to grow her artistic vision, build creative community, and support others to do the same by mentoring emerging artists. “My visual concerns run the gamut from careful study to poetic, symbolic and sometimes political representations of nature and human nature.”
