I create art purely for the joy of it, but also as a type of meditation. I find peace in the slow processor working attentively and patiently. I work from photos I take of things in my garden and on walks - like fungi, seedpods, plants, bugs, as well as from photos of sea life. I'm continually mesmerized by the intricate patterns and details in Mother Nature. I think I find and observe things that people often overlook. Creating these ceramic pieces allow me to slow down and pay close attention in a quiet, focused way. I hope the pieces I make offer that same pause to others - a chance to notice something subtle and simply enjoy it. My work has been shown locally and the Chicago area at small shops, cafes and galleries.
