ABOUT THE ARTIST

Lily Bonnes is a German-born artist based in Wisconsin whose work explores perception, awareness, and the space between things. A graduate of the University of the Arts in Berlin and former lecturer at the College of Arts in Berlin, she has spent decades integrating creativity, teaching, and personal exploration into her artistic practice. Working primarily in ink drawing, Lily creates expressive, contemplative works that invite viewers to slow down, reflect, and connect with deeper layers of experience.

CREATIVE PROCESS

I view life as an artistic laboratory, and my work emerges from it. Mighty powers seem to stir, and through a miraculous giving in, become a route, a gesture, an adventure that touches me and transforms my perception constantly. The space between things, that awareness beyond the reachable, seems more important than the things themselves. I was able feeling its divinity. My ink drawings are especially close to my heart. I absolutely love making them. There is a moment where time is standing still and a flow takes over leading me to stillness.
