ABOUT THE ARTIST

My name is Stacey Stewartson. I am an artist, jewelry designer and owner of handcrafted jewelry brand, Maebel. I have been working in and surrounding myself with art for all my career and have been self employed since late 2019. Maebel jewelry is designed to be minimal but not subtle. My work celebrates bold colors and features well-proportioned shapes that compliment each wearer's individual style. Every piece is carefully designed and handcrafted with a focus on prioritizing the use of salvaged leather as well as laser cut acrylic and unique brass components. Whether you are looking for a great pair of statement earrings or the perfect staple piece worthy of everyday wear, Maebel jewelry allows you to be bold yet lovely, simple yet unique.

CREATIVE PROCESS

Every leather shape that becomes a pair of earrings has been hand drawn and prototyped. A few designs are simply cut by hand and ready to assemble. The majority of final drawings are vectored and then cut with a laser cutter. Leather is washed to remove soot, dried and assembled. My leather pieces are also an extremely special part of my business. I work to source as much salvaged and upcycled leather as possible to reduce waste and bring life to otherwise useless scraps from purse makers, upholsterers, book binders and leather artisans to name a few.

I believe that thoughtfully handcrafted jewelry is an accessible, delightful way to express personal style and include beautiful design in your everyday life. Nothing makes me happier than to learn that a customer receives compliments every time they wear a piece of jewelry I’ve made!
