Stephanie Barenz

Stephanie Barenz is a mixed media artist and gallery director based in Madison, WI. Her work explores how our external surroundings shape our inner landscapes. She currently serves as the Gallery Director at the Overture Center for the Arts, where she connects with artists and arts organizations across Wisconsin.

Stephanie holds an MFA from Washington University in St. Louis and studied at the Santa Reparata International School of Art in Florence, Italy. She has over 12 years of teaching experience at institutions including the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design and Concordia International School in Shanghai.

Her creative practice has been shaped by residencies at the Art Students League of New York, the Chicago Printmakers’ Collaborative, and the Pfister Hotel’s Artist-in-Residence program. She has exhibited her work nationally and internationally at venues such as Sino ArtSpace (Shanghai), Solonia Art Center (Suzhou), the Milwaukee Art Museum, the Museum of Wisconsin Art, the John Michael Kohler Art Center, Art + Lit Lab, and Walker’s Point Center for the Arts.
