ABOUT THE ARTIST

Watercolor painting imparts my love of nature and the environment into visual images. I am basically a self taught artist who started painting as a hobby over fifty years ago. It gradually grew into a mission to deliver a message about the importance of nature and the environment in relation to human happiness and to earth's increasingly threatened existence. I try to capture the viewer's eye with color and soothe their soul with an atmosphere of peace and tranquility. I hope to achieve an overall effect of harmony and co-existence between nature and humanity with a subtle implication of the greater cosmos.

CREATIVE PROCESS

My process involves using multiple washes of watercolor paint on heavyweight paper to create stylized photo realistic paintings of Wisconsin inspired scenes. I utilize various principles of design in each work with an emphasis on scene unity and harmony, color variation and saturation, value contrast, asymmetric balance, and image details.
