ABOUT THE ARTIST

Hello, my name is Tim O'Meara, owner, designer, and builder at 58 Rings Fine Woodwork LLC. The work I produce is a combination of thoughtful, time-tested joinery, a respect and understanding of my media, and inspired, original designs. I am a self-taught fine woodworker that started this journey by studying the craft in its various forms through books, forums, and videos. I built my shop, piece by piece, with second hand machines and tools all refined and reworked by myself to produce pieces at a very high standard. In a world saturated with planned obsolescence and single-use products, I am driven to create pieces that both myself and their future owners can take pride in. The idea of creating something someone may cherish and connect with, a piece that can withstand the test of time and be passed down to others, is a task that I take great pride in pursuing.

CREATIVE PROCESS

With a backround in industrial design, I typically start each project with a series of sketches to further ideate and understand the concept. I try to include features within each piece that not only serve a functional purpose, but aesthetically may draw the viewers attention. That being said, much of a woodworkers pride is the precise fitment of joints that will go unnoticed. These nuances are executed with a high level of detail and persistence. The luxury of working with wood is the beauty and variety of different wood grains and species. I always do my best to frame this beauty into a harmonious composition that celebrates the materials and techniques utilized.
