Mark Viser

Hi! My name is Mark Viser, and I was born in Clinton, North Carolina. Inspired artistically at a young age by my father and paternal grandmother, I become involved in the art program at Clinton High School and was a weekly cartoonist for the Daily Tar Heel during my four years as an undergraduate at UNC-Chapel Hill.

Since then, I have focused more on oil and watercolor and aim to explore the intersection of nature and urban environments with an emphasis on the hidden corners of cities and towns. By highlighting the sidewalks, street corners, and other often-overlooked places that serve as the backdrop of people’s daily lives, I hope to capture what it feels like to be in Madison and other places at a specific moment in time.
