ABOUT THE ARTIST

Susann Ely is a nature printer and a board member of the international Nature Printing Society, a nonprofit arts organization dedicated to the art and history of nature printing in all its forms. Ms. Ely designs cards, tea towels and prints celebrating nature printing.

Her work has been featured at venues including Madison’s Gallery Night and the Dodge County Center for the Arts. In 2020, she was a featured artist during Gallery Night. She exhibited her prints and gave a live demonstration of gyotaku (traditional fish printing) at Berke and Benham’s, a seafood shop in Madison’s Monroe Street neighborhood.

Ms. Ely shares her passion for nature printing with students, inspiring others to explore and engage in this unique and tactile art form. Susann invites viewers to slow down, observe, and connect with nature through her intricate and meditative prints, each one offering a moment of reflection and a renewed appreciation for the beauty and detail found in the natural world.
