Meet Local Madison Artists. Take Home Something Original.

This isn't a typical art fair. Every third Saturday, featured Madison Art Market artists and makers bring work straight from their studios. New pieces and one-of-a-kind items you won't find on our regular store shelves. Each month features a different lineup, from painters and ceramicists to jewelers, printmakers, and artisanal food makers. Once you're here, explore the shop too, with our year-round collection of 90+ Wisconsin artists and makers.

Why Participate

More than a table. A real connection.

Space inside the shop is limited. The Third Saturday Pop-Up gives you a dedicated outdoor spot to share new work, one-of-a-kind pieces, and things not currently on the floor.

It’s a chance to meet the people who have walked past your work, asked about it, or come back looking for it. A real connection, beyond the shelf.

Artist FAQs

Common questions.

Who can apply?

Only artists currently accepted and actively selling at Madison Art Market. This is exclusively for our consignment artists as a way to help them sell more and connect directly with buyers.

Is there commission on event sales?

No. Zero commission on anything sold directly from your event table. The $50 participation fee after your application has been accepted is the only cost. Standard consignment commission applies to store sales only.

What inventory should I bring?

Bring originals, new pieces, and work not currently on display, separate from consignment, in-store, inventory.

What time should I arrive?

Setup begins at 8:00 AM. The event opens at 10:00 AM. Be fully set up before 10. The event runs until 5:00 PM.

How do I get paid for sales at my table?

You handle all sales at your own table. Bring your own payment method (Square, Venmo, cash, card reader) and collect payment directly from customers.

What if my date is full?

Join the waitlist. We will reach out if spots open on a first come, first served basis.

Can I bring extra display equipment?

Yes. Panels, racks, easels, and stands are all welcome as long as they fit within your assigned space. Please keep in mind that the event will take place under an overhang so tents are generally not needed.

Who handles sales tax for my pop-up sales?

You do. Because you're making sales directly under your own business, you're responsible for collecting and remitting Wisconsin sales tax on everything sold at your table. You'll need your own Wisconsin seller's permit and should handle reporting through your own records.

When will I find out if I am selected?

Once selected, you'll hear from us by email with next steps and payment info. Because spots are limited, please only apply for dates you're certain you can make. Double-check your calendar and any other show commitments before applying.

Do I need a Wisconsin seller's permit?

Yes. To sell at the pop-up and legally collect sales tax, you need an active Wisconsin Department of Revenue seller's permit.
Wisconsin requires a seller's permit for any individual or business making retail sales of taxable goods in the state. You can apply for one for free at revenue.wi.gov. If you already sell at fairs or markets, you likely have one.

What about the consignment work I already have inside the store?

Your consignment agreement with Madison Art Market is separate from the pop-up. Inside-store sales follow our standard consignment terms (we collect payment, handle tax, pay you per our agreement). The pop-up is just for sales at your own outdoor table that day.

What is the current Wisconsin sales tax rate for Madison?

As of 2026, Madison sales tax is 5.5% (5% state + 0.5% Dane County).

Can I sell food or edible products?

Yes, with proper Wisconsin licensing. Most small food makers qualify under cottage food law (baked goods, jams, honey, pickles). Other products may need a DATCP license. Check the DATCP website for details, and email your licensing to info@madisonartmarket.com before the event.

How do you select artists for each pop-up date?

We curate each Third Saturday with variety in mind, so every pop-up feels fresh. When possible, we select one artist per medium per date. That means one painter, one ceramicist, one jeweler, and so on.

If your preferred date is full, or if another artist working in your medium has already been confirmed for that day, you'll receive a decline email for those specific dates. This is not a reflection of your work. It simply means the lineup was set before we got to your application.

To increase your chances, we encourage you to apply for every date you're available. The more flexibility you have, the easier it is for us to find a spot that fits.
